Dolly Parton just made an important announcement concerning her nomination for this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
The music icon took to Instagram to announce that she is bowing out of her nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Dolly Parton bows out of Rock Hall Nomination
Not wanting to have votes split because of her, Parton "respectfully" bows out of the list of inductees.
"Even though I'm extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I don't feel that I have earned that right," she elaborated on her decision.
In addition to Beck, Devo, Kate Bush, Eminem, Rage Against the Machine, Carly Simon, and others, Parton was nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, marking the singer-first songwriter's induction into the institution.
Chet Atkins, Johnny Cash, Jimmie Rodgers, and other country performers have previously been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame among them.
She also noted that her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, a "rock 'n' roll freak," pushed her to create an album for the genre. "I do hope the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and will be willing to consider me again-if I'm ever worthy.
This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock n' roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do!" she penned at the end of her recent statement.
Dolly Parton's Rock Hall Nomination
In a previous interview with Billboard, the Country music icon might have hinted at her hesitation in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination.
"Floored," upon knowing that she is nominated, the 76-year old singer never thought of herself being "rock and roll," thus not expecting that she would get in.
She has also hinted that she will be putting out a great rock and roll album next year, a thing she has wanted to do for years.
Eyeing to create a Linda Ronstadt or Heart kind of an album, Dolly considers the nomination a "god-wink" for her to continue doing the album.
This was not the first time that Dolly Parton bowed out to prestigious ceremonies.
She was supposedly offered a statue at the Tennesee capitol and a Presidential Medal of Freedom twice, but she both declined.
