Mark Hoppus had a rollercoaster cancer battle that tested his faith and belief.
After challenging months since learning about his cancer diagnosis, Hoppus lived his life to the fullest without thinking too much about the life-or-death news. For what it's worth, he confirmed to his fans that he had a stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in April.
Per the Lymphoma Research Foundation, DLBCL is the most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma both in the U.S. and worldwide. It is a type of cancer that develops from abnormal B cells that grow abnormally.
Nearly one year since he was first challenged by the dreaded disease, Hoppus marked a new milestone in his life and celebrated his 50th birthday this week.
On Wednesday, the musician spent time with his fans again on Twitch, where he once shared updates about his cancer journey.
While his fans played a huge role in his recovery, Hoppus also found hope by listening to "Adam's Song" - a song he wrote in 1999 with lyrics that are full of hope.
Part of the song goes: "Days when I can still feel alive/When I can't wait to get outside/The world is wide, the time goes by/The tour is over, I've survived."
Indeed, the musician triumphed over cancer, and he was able to conquer the stage again during his recovery.
Mark Hoppus is Back!
Months before celebrating his birthday, Hoppus marked his first-ever performance during Halloween. He cosplayed Batman as he performed with Travis Barker some of the Blink-182 songs at the House of Horrors.
The duo hyped the fans by playing the fans' favorites, including "Family Reunion," "What's My Age Again?" and "The Rock Show."
At the same time, Hoppus announced the good news on his social media account, telling his followers that his oncologist confirmed he is now cancer-free.
"Thank you God and universe and friends and family and everyone who sent support and kindness and love. Still have to get scanned every six months and it'll take me until the end of the year to get back to normal but today is an amazing day and I feel so blessed," he wrote.
Hoppus held tight and fought for his life, remaining hopeful as his mother suffered from the same disease and even survived cancer thrice.
