LaShun Pace, an Atlanta-born gospel singer, has died. She was 60.
Her family and management company both confirmed the tragic news in separate statements on Monday.
In reports shared by CBS46 and 11Alive's Shiba Russell, people close to Pace revealed that the singer-songwriter passed away after years of enduring health issues.
Her sister, Lydia Pace, revealed that the singer was on dialysis for five years but was currently waiting for a kidney donor. However, she died of organ failure on Monday morning.
On top of that, she also suffered more health issues, including cancer, ruptured esophagus, and weight issues, WSB-TV Atlanta reported.
LaShun Pace's death became the third loss for their family in two years, following her sister, Duranice Pace, who succumbed last year.
Following her passing, her fans immediately remembered her legacy and honored her life as a singer. They also took their time to pay tribute to the trailblazer soprano who changed the music industry for good.
One said, "We have lost one of the baddest sopranos to ever walk this earth. LaShun Pace one of the lead singers of The Pace Sisters has passed. The Pace Sisters recently loss their sister songbird Duranice Pace and Mom Pastor Betty Pace. Pray for them and all of us who will mourn this loss."
"With the passing of Ms. Lashun Pace, I'm really glad y'all recirculated her voice & 90's Black Gospel to the world through Tik Tok. 90's Gospel will always be superior. I'm happy she seen the love & was able to smell her roses before she passed. Take your rest!" another wrote.
LaShun Pace Remembered
Before her death, the Atlanta native famously became part of the sibling gospel group The Anointed Pace Sisters. The nine sisters shared their talent in churches before scoring a breakthrough in the gospel industry.
Despite being part of the group, Pace also launched her solo career by releasing solo albums. Her "Act Like You Know," the song she released in 1996, recently became a TikTok trend. This caused Lydia to ask her sister to work on another album.
Her other hit songs include, "I Promised The Lord," "In Everything Give Thanks," "I Know I've Been Changed," "For My Good," "He Keeps On Doing Great Things," and "Another Day's Journey."
Pace's career helped her grant the wish her late mother, Bettie Ann Pace, made - to become a homeowner. The matriarch passed away in 2020.
