Country singer and songwriter Jeff Carson passed away at 58 years old.

A press release reported that the award-winning vocalist died recently at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tennessee.

Born Jeffrey Lee Herndon, the singer known for his hits "The Car" and "Not On Your Love," recently died from a heart attack.

Jeff Carson's Beginnings

A Tulsa, Oklahoma native, Carson started pursuing music at a very young age. His love for country music stemmed when he joined a small band in Arkansas and eventually relocated to Missouri.

He had a short stint of performing music in the state until he moved to Nashville to finally kickstart his music career by recording demos.

In 1994, the then 31-year-old Carson inked a recording deal with Curb Records and proceeded to drop his debut single "Yeah Buddy." "Yeah Buddy" peaked at No. 69 on the US Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart and was followed by his only No. 1 track, "Not on Your Love," later that year.

Carson passed away, leaving Kim Cooper Carson (Wife), Dayton Grei Carson Herndon Carson (Son), Virginia Norton (Mother), Stever Herndon (Brother), Karen Spurlock (Sister), among many other relatives.

Jeff Carson's Music Career and Shift to Law Enforcement

"Yeah Buddy" and "Not on Your Love," Carson's two most successful tracks, were included in his self-titled debut album in May 1995.

His third single on the album "The Car" peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs, earning him an Academy of Country Music Award for Best Song.

Carson's music career flourished, and he proceeded to release two more albums, "Butterfly Kisses" and "Real Life." To date, the country vocalist charted fourteen tracks on the Hot Country Songs Chart.

However, he left music in 2009 and became a police officer in Franklin Police Department in Williamson County, Tennessee.

He returned to music in 2019 to release a previously-recorded track ten years later.

Carson remained in law enforcement while working on his music career.

Signed in a deal with Encore Music Group, Carson is supposedly releasing a new album due this year, featuring Michael Ray and Darryl Worley.

Last Sunday, the Franklin Police Department announced the musician turned police officer's death on Twitter, mourning the loss of their comrade.
