Roxy Music will rise together again to mark a special event 20 years after they stopped touring.
Multiple news outlets, including Pitchfork, confirmed Roxy Music's return through their first North American tour since their 2003 concert.
The band's founding members - Bryan Ferry, Andy Mackay, Paul Thompson, and Phil Manzanera - will all be back to have a 10-date US tour to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their debut album.
Roxy Music's 2022 tour will begin in September at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto before wrapping it in October at The O2 in London. The other states and cities they are about to visit include Washington D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Austin, Dallas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Glasgow, and Manchester.
St. Vincent confirmed her appearance as a special guest on all Roxy Music's tours, but she reportedly would not be able to perform at TD Garden on September 17.
It will serve as the band's first US tour since 2003 and their first trek since their "For Your Pleasure" in 2011.
Their return actually came as a shock, especially since Manzanera once told Rolling Stone that their job was far from over after the 2011 tour.
"I don't think we're going to do any more shows," he said in 2014. "I think our job is done. When we stopped touring in 2011, Andy [Mackay] and I looked at each other and said, 'Our job is done here.'"
Despite that, he performed again together with Ferry and Mackay during their Rock Hall induction ceremony.
Roxy Music Went Through Hiatuses Throughout Career
It was not the first time they split and made up, though.
In 1976, they disbanded after their "Siren" concert tours. Ferry, Manzanera, and Thompson performed again in two solo records. Brian Eno also worked with Manzanera for his "801 Live" album.
They officially reunited in 1978 to record their new album, "Manifesto." However, at that time, they had to reshuffle the band members as Eddie Jobson was not reportedly reached out regarding the reunion.
Their most recent breakup happened after their reunion in 2001 to celebrate their 30th anniversary. Roxy Music became active on the road again but did not release new music. At that time, Ferry already said he had no interest in recording with the band - and that was reportedly the reason for the latest Roxy Music breakup.
"Musicians like to do new things," he said. "It's unfortunate for the fans, really, because they would like you to play the same old stuff forever and ever. And they go see it and they feel like, 'Man, they aren't as good as they used to be.'"
Fortunately, they found their way back together again to bless Roxy Music's fans again.
