He was gunned down in Maryland on March 18, but Goonew's death hasn't faded into obscurity yet. The slain promising rapper is now making headlines for how his corpse was treated - something fans did not think anyone deserve.
If nothing else, at least he has the support of his loved ones to keep his name in the news. As a result of his innovative memorial ceremony, Goonew, 24, whose actual name is Markelle Morrow, has been trending on social media since photographs and video of the funeral were posted online.
Although it was described by the New York Post as hip-"Weekend hop's at Bernie's," it appears from the photographs and stories that they raised Goonew's body up and showed it on stage at the Washington, D.C. nightclub Bliss during his home-going service.
On social media, a large number of Goonew's admirers voiced their anger at the event.
Such's awful and insulting, one Twitter user commented. "No way Goonew mother allowed that (crap)"
This society has already crumbled if you viewed the video with Goonew's body, can you? Another one has been added.

The Goonew material is "horrifying to say the least," commented another commenter.
50 Cent Reacts
Even 50 Cent got in on the action, tweeting a video of Goonew's physique under the caption, "Oh (crap)! I just realized what this is," with a facepalm emoji.
If someone could still be skeptical that this could have happened, and consider that there was some initial confusion about whether the body seen was that of a real person or a waxwork or mannequin, he should stop now.
Bliss released a statement after the video and photographs went public and several fans began to express their displeasure on social media, appearing to confirm that this was indeed Goonew's body.
"Our deepest condolences to Goonew's family, friends and fans," the nightclub said in a statement issued via The Shade Room on Instagram. "Bliss was contacted by a local funeral home to rent out our venue for Goonew's home-going celebration.
"Bliss was never made aware of what would transpire," they added. "We sincerely apologize to all those who may be upset or offended. Please keep Goonew's family and friends in your prayers at this difficult time."
Goonew Profited Off?
According to the Washington Post, Black Fortune, a rapper who performed at the event, commented on Instagram: "No this ain't no wax figure my Brodie went out gangsta."
There was a $40 cover charge for the night, and the event was dubbed "The Last Show," according to the New York Post.
According to sources, a shootout occurred in District Heights, Maryland, and Morrow was fatally wounded. A $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
