Prince made sure that his fellow musicians would reach the pinnacle of success by giving them advice, including Jack White.
Years after Prince's death, White opened up about his encounter with Prince and what the late singer told him about playing his guitar.
In a new interview with Zane Lower's Apple Music 1, the musician revealed that he met the "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" hitmaker during a show featuring Citizens Band, Zoe Kravitz and Karen Elson's musical project.
When the concert started, someone reportedly bumped White and informed him that Prince was sitting behind them.
That moment allowed White to start a conversation with Prince, and the late singer left him with a powerful advice.
"The phrase he had said to me was like, 'No one is going to tell you how to play your guitar, Jack.' And he talked about the James Bond song I had just done. And he said, 'I really like it.' And I said, 'Oh, that's great. Because some people, it's like making a song for Star Wars fans or something. You're throwing yourself into the sea of... It's a very divisive track.' And he goes, 'Oh, I thought it was real strong,'" he said, as quoted by Rolling Stone.
White then followed Prince's advice and enjoyed a steady solo career. Despite that, he reportedly felt strange being a solo artist.
Why Jack White Thought Being a Soloist Was Weird Until White Stripes Break Up
White once launched his rock duo with his ex-wife, Meg White, in 1997. Since he became known as the other half of it, he reportedly felt uncomfortable when he began performing as a soloist before the band's split in 2011.
During the same interview, White disclosed that he felt in 2010 that he and Meg would not release more records together. He did not comment on the development yet not until he was preparing his "Blunderbuss."

"I had a feeling, maybe it'd be healthier for me and her and for the fans ... Because I'm about to release a solo record and if I hear someone say, 'Well why didn't you just make a White Stripes record?' I don't want to hear that. So that was one of the reasons for the health part of it," he said.
Now, White has been flying high in the industry. He is currently preparing to release the first of his two new albums this year, titled "Fear of the Dawn."
