In a really disturbing, highly unfortunate new trend at country music concerts, police are now investigating a reported gang rape that took place at Michigan's Faster Horses Festival last month. At the country music event (headlined by the likes of Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Darius Rucker and more), a woman was allegedly assaulted by three men in a parking lot.
According to MLive.com (via Radio.com), a 25-year-old concertgoer was separated from her friends on July 19 and attacked by three men around 12:10 a.m.
"She was attacked in the dark near the parking area, and there didn't happen to be anyone around in that parking area," said Cambridge Township Police Department Chief Larry Wibbeler.
The victim was then taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries and was administered a rape kit for investigations.
Police have thus far been unable to identify any witnesses or suspects in the Faster Horses Festival rape case. The Cambridge Township Police are asking for anyone with knowledge about the incident to contact them at 517-467-4737.
The rape at the Faster Horses Festival is just the latest horror to come to the surface from a country music concert. Another alleged rape took place at a Keith Urban concert in Boston last month, with a 17-year-old girl getting assaulted by a man she had just met at the show.
Despite the tragic rape, most of the Faster Horses Festival went off without a hitch between July 18 and 20, and the concert included sets from Little Big Town, Sam Hunt, Kip Moore, Cassadee Pope and more.
