After receiving massive co-signs from other rap giants in the hip hop scene, Jack Harlow continues to prove himself that his music might be the next big thing in the industry.
The confidence that he shows in his work is deeply rooted in his musical influence, most of which is from rap veteran Eminem.
In a recent interview with Harlow, the rising rapper calls out those who belittle Eminem's music and its impact, who he considers one of his musical inspirations.
Jack Harlow Defends Eminem's Music
Per Rolling Stone, Harlow finds it "tragic" for some rap fans to not appreciate Em's music, some even calling it "circus music" on Twitter.
"But I think that shit is still forever immortal, and we're gonna get back to it. We're a couple years away from everyone reviving that shit as a culture and being like, 'Look at this shit," Harlow explained.
For the "Nail Tech" hitmaker, it would seem like Eminem's music will be making a comeback anytime soon.
"Everyone's gonna pay their rightful respects again. No matter how the production ages to people, like, he put so much into his words that it immortalized him, even though that shit aged as 'circus music' to [some] people," he ended.
Who are Jack Harlow's idols?
Aside from this, the 24-year-old rapper also touched on more of his music idols, some of which are female rappers and musicians.
For Harlow, male rappers measuring themselves only against their male peers is what he considered to be a "patriarchal thing."
"I'm somebody that loves Nicki Minaj, loves Dej Loaf. And I'm not saying that because we're doing an interview. I love these artists because they're ill. I love the way they use their voice. I love the way they write. There's something to pull from. I loved Fergie. I love Gwen Stefani. But I think a lot of guys have trouble finding themselves in women's music."
The questions and comments came on the heels of his Rolling Stone cover story and the release of his now-viral track "First Class."
The Fergie-sampling track will be included on his May 6, 2022, launch of "Come Home the Kids Miss You," Harlow's second studio album.
