Almost after 30 years, Backstreet Boys are still active in the music industry as they constantly go on tour, awards shows, and release new songs. However, they revealed that they couldn't do certain dance moves anymore because of a shocking reason.
In an interview with ET Online, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean, and Kevin Richardson spoke to Cassie DiLaura during their "DNA Tour" at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The iconic group recalls their great memories as bandmates and taking their families on tour with them.
Elsewhere in the interview, the band became nostalgic about their popular dance moves in the 90s. However, they revealed that they had been avoiding some routines to make it back to their tour buses in one piece.
When asked if their dance moves feel the same as they did in their early years, 48-year-old Howie said, "they hurt more!"
The reason why they're not dancing the way they did in the past is because of their age.
AJ spoke out and cracked a joke, saying, "they don't hurt as much at the moment," to which Kevin replied, "they hurt later that night."
Nick revealed that their band added four new dance routines on their tour and new choreography to their classic songs.
Although they are still dancing today, Howie said there are limitations as they couldn't get down on their knees anymore because they can't get back up.
"We used to be in a standing position, drop to our knees and then -- with no knee pads on -- and then pop right back up," Kevin explained.
He added that they wouldn't do splits, laying on their backs, and kip-ups on their shows.
AJ then recalled a specific dance routine for the song "New Love," which requires them to "bend down and go up and down and up." The singer said he's having difficulty keeping up with the move as it "stings" him a bit.
Speaking about their ongoing tour, which kicked off in Las Vegas, Brian said they spent the past few weeks doing rehearsals which is "tough" on their bodies.
However, once they hit the stage, seeing their fans' reactions led Kevin to say, "it was time."
"Everybody's just juicing for live entertainment and live contact. A.J. was joking, 'Hey, we get to see everybody's faces,'" he added.
Aside from Sin City, the popular boyband will also visit numerous cities across North America, like Los Angeles, Toronto, Del Valle, Albuquerque, and more, before going to Europe.
