Doja Cat Covering "Hound Dog"
To coincide with the release of impending biopic, "Elvis," the 26-year-old rapper is said to be releasing a cover version of the King of Rock n Roll's legendary song "Hound Dog."
A source revealed that this move is actually quite controversial.
"It's hugely controversial. Elvis fans are diehard and see any tampering as sacrilege, but Warner Bros wanted to bring his music to a new audience. He is one of the most successful musicians of all time, but this album will help introduce his music to a new generation of kids," the insider explained.
Swae Lee, one half of the hip hop band Rae Sremmurd, is rumored to be joining the "Woman" hitmaker on the soundtrack. Swae Lee previously worked with Madonna on her 'Madame X' album.
Elvis Presley New Album, Biopic Controversy
According to an insider, even though emotions are mixed about the topic, there is a perceived need to "bring Elvis's music to the masses again," hence the biopic and new album.
This is the aim behind the album, set to be released in summer 2022. It will be akin to the hype around Freddie Mercury biopic, "Bohemian Rhapsody."

The source clarified to The Sun newspaper's Bizarre Column, "The hope is that the record, along with the film, will help bring his music back to the masses again and kickstart a huge increase on streaming services - which is what happened with Queen music when the Freddie Mercury biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody' came out."
