Alabama, who started releasing country albums in 1976 and went on to become one of country music's favorite bands, has a total of 19 country projects under their belts. In 2013, they were the subject of a tribute album called Alabama & Friends which featured Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Eli Young Band, Trisha Yearwood, Toby Keith, Florida Georgia Line and Jamey Johnson performing their hits with two new tracks from Alabama in the mix. However, their last full country release came in 2001 with When It All Goes South.
Fans had to wait nearly six years for any new music and it came in the form of their first gospel project, Songs of Inspiration, which released in 2006. The following year, they released Songs of Inspiration II. Now, seven years later, the band that brought us hits like "My Home's in Alabama," "Feels So Right," "Mountain Music" and "The Closer You Get" will be releasing a third gospel project called Angels Among Us: Hymns and Gospel Favorites. Due out on September 30, 2014, the album will offer up 12 tracks made up of classic hymns beloved by Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook.
