Will Lady Gaga's new original soundtrack win an Academy Award for Best Music for the second time?
The "Paparazzi" hitmaker has recently announced the release of "Hold My Hand," a new song she recorded for "Top Gun: Maverick," on May 3.
The award-winning singer debuted the song on Twitter, revealing that it was produced by Ben Rice and BloodPop, with additional production and scoring music by Hans Zimmer and Harold Faltermeyer for the film version.
Lady Gaga tweeted that she didn't understand the song had "many layers" that covered "the film's heart," as well as her "personal psyche" and "the nature of the society we live in."
She also released the song's black and white cover art and said that crafting the music was a lengthy process.
"I've been working on it for years, refining it, trying to make it ours," the "A Star Is Born" star admitted.
"I wanted to make music into a song where we share our deep need to both be understood and try to understand each other-a longing to be close when we feel so far away and an ability to celebrate life's heroes."
Lady Gaga also shared a snippet of the lyrics, "But if you decide to /, I'll ride in this life with you / I won't let go until the end."
The original film "Top Gun," starring Tom Cruise in 1986, included music by Kenny Loggins and Berlin's Oscar-winning song "Take My Beath Away."
Lady Gaga's most recent film soundtrack, "A Star Is Born," garnered her an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Shallow."
Meanwhile, the "Top Gun: Maverick" OST might be a big smash at the Oscars in 2023.
According to a Music News source, "Gaga is at her finest in 'Hold My Hand.' It was supposed to be released at the end of this month, but executives moved it back somewhat. The video was completed quite some time ago."
They went on to remark, "I wouldn't be shocked if Gaga receives another Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song next year."
Lady Gaga has a busy year ahead of her as she prepares for her "Chromatica Ball" world tour, which begins on July 17 in Germany.
It was stated that $1 from every ticket sold to a US event will be contributed to her Born This Way Foundation, an organization that supports young people and builds communities by offering accessible tools, promoting true connection, and inspiring action.
