Anything new from Taylor Swift is always good news. There's no doubt too that she's great at plotting her releases, always dropping them at surprising times.
According to some analysts, Taylor Swift may be plotting her next major move for the 2022 Met Gala. Swift rarely attends the MET Gala and the fact that she accepted the invite to this one might serve some purpose.
The Met Gala's official Instagram account intimated on Monday (May 2) that the celebrity (and past event co-chair) may be in attendance for a very special cause at this year's fundraising - and directly said it could be because of her next album.
"Taylor Swift in Louis Vuitton at the 2016 #MetGala," the account captioned a photo of Swift on the red carpet at that year's event, her platinum-blonde locks in stark contrast to the metallic silver snakeskin of her custom dress. "Rumour has it she has accepted her invitation this year, and will possibly use the event to tease the release of her next album."
The Met Gala has become a near-mythic setting in Swiftian lore, if one can recall.
Countless Swifties all over the world have been speculating since the release of 2017's "Reputation" that the events of fan-favorite album cut "Getaway Car" occurred at the 2016 Gala, thanks to their queen subtly referencing the museum in the song's dream-like chorus.
Swift co-hosted the event with Anna Wintour, Idris Elba, and British-American industrial designer Jonathan Ive that year, with the subject "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology."
If Taylor does indeed make this highly-welcomed full-fledged announcement of a new album, from the Met's famed steps, the mystery project would be a follow-up to her 2021 re-recordings of 2008's Fearless and 2012's Red, as well as her more recent landing on the role as the first-ever global Record Store Day ambassador, which she celebrated with the exclusive vinyl release of Folklore bonus track "The Lakes."
Is there a chance that the upcoming album will have a collaboration with Drake?
Drake made some Taylor Swift fans excited last Monday when he uploaded a flashback photo of him and Swift on his Instagram. Some said this can be the sign of a collab, although TMZ also reported that the photo meant nothing.
