Vanessa Hudgens and Olivia Rodrigo shared their adoration and mutual respect for one another on the Met Gala red carpet on Monday, May 2. Vanessa, 33, interviewed the Sour singer, 19, in a pleasant reunion for the two actors, who played Gabriella in two very different roles in the original and remake Disney+ series High School Musical.
As Vanessa prepared to interview Olivia for Vogue, she referred to her as "Lil Miss New Gabriella" and remarked that the two had a "connection" because to their shared role in the film. Olivia referred to the actress as her "soul sister," while Vanessa appeared overjoyed about the prospect of working together. "If that means I get to be your sister, I'm so in," she said.
To reacquaint those unfamiliar with Vanessa's work, she originated the role of Gabriella in the original High School Musical trilogy, making her television debut in 2006 with the classic Disney Channel Original Movie. Olivia featured in the relaunched High School Musical: The Musical: The Series in 2019 as Nini Salazar-Roberts, who plays Gabriella in a theatrical version of "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series."
Apart from discussing their mutual love of Disney, Vanessa enquired about Olivia's magnificent Donatella Versace gown, which she wore on the red carpet. Olivia gave a nice response. She also wondered about a follow-up to the instant classic Sour, which was released in 2021. "I'm working on it right now and constantly writing, and [I] just want to make sure it's right, and yeah, excited for a new era," she said.
On Monday, Fashion's Biggest Night took place, and both ladies looked absolutely lovely. Olivia's gown was shimmering and purple, recalling the color pattern found on the cover of her critically acclaimed debut album. The look was completed wonderfully with matching shoes, long gloves, and a few butterflies in her hair. Vanessa chose a considerably darker look, choosing a black Victorian gown with significant goth undertones, as seen in the photo above.
However, Olivia Rodrigo's ensemble for the MET Gala 2022 deserves just as much attention today as her forthcoming record.
Olivia Rodrigo is maturing as an artist as well as in terms of her glitzy personal flair.
The Grammy Award-winning singer made her long-awaited Met Gala entry in a shimmering lavender gown by Versace, replete with off-the-shoulder straps and sheer gloves, as well as matching lavender butterfly adornments in her hair. A modest necklace and dangling earrings completed the sparkling appearance.
Rodrigo explained that the eye-catching attire was "inspired by the splendor of the Gilded Age." And it was a shift from her darker, more edgy look from the previous year's event. The singer looked rocker chic at the 2021 Met Gala in a black netted lace Saint Laurent jumpsuit with an off-the-shoulder feathered collar. Molly Greenwald's makeup enhanced the ensemble's sophistication while preserving its overall sharpness.
