It's official! After years of public outcry and requests from fans, Judas Priest will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. More recently, one of the band's original members, K.K. Downing broke his silence about the good news.

According to Loudwire, the music legend said he's delighted with the honor but still unsure if he will attend the induction later this year.

The musician left the group in 2011, stating he's going through a "breakdown in working relationships" between himself, elements of the band, and management."

Judas Band will receive the Musical Excellence Award, meaning they will not be a part of the performance category, and it's still unsure whether they'll perform live at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Speaking to EonMusic, the rocker commented on the great news his former pals received, comparing the experience to being nominated for a Grammy award.

"It's one of those things, it was like the Grammy, when you get nominated that amount of times and don't win, when you actually do win," he said.

Downing added that it takes the edge of it because they fail to win many times; however, it's "better to score the goal at the end of the game!"

When the reporter opened up the topic of performing live at the event with his former bandmates Glenn Tipton, Rob Halford, Ian Hill, Scott Travis, and former drummer Les Blinks, the guitarist was uncertain.

"I hadn't thought about that. Is that going to happen, is it? I think it's November, and a lot can happen between now and then, mate!" he said.

Since the band has been eligible for the induction since 1999 and never got the recognition until this year, Downing said he's delighted for his buddies.

He then looked back at his time with the group, saying he cherished many memories, and they were an integral part of his life for a long time.

K.K. Downing has been enjoying his life with a new band called KK's Priest, which debuted in 2020. It took him almost nine years before stepping into the spotlight again following his departure from his original band.

Aside from the band, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis will also be inducted under the Musical Excellence Award category.
