Dolly Parton is finally making a rock album following her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - and she's naming huge acts to accompany her in this upcoming effort!
Dolly Parton Rock Hall Nomination Inspired Her To Create Rock Album
Earlier this year, Rock Hall released its long list of nominated acts and musicians for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2022.
Along with Eurythmics, Duran Duran, Devo, Pat Benatar, Eminem, Lionel Richie, Rage Against the Machines, Judas Priest, and others, Dolly Parton was one of the seventeen nominees for the Class of 2022.
Hailing from the Country music genre, Dolly Parton shortly felt like she was out of place on the nominee roster. Weeks after, she finally spoke up about the matter.
Releasing an Instagram statement about it, the "Jolene" hitmaker "respectfully" bowed out of the nomination as she felt like she would be splitting the vote for more deserving acts.
Although she was "extremely flattered and grateful," she asks the Rock Hall to consider her again should they feel she is worthy again.
However, this bowing out inspired her to finally make a rock album, which she said her husband was a "freak" at.
Dolly Parton Finally Makes Rock Album With THESE Massive Acts
According to Music News, Dolly Parton plans to collaborate with The Rolling Stones and Mick Jagger!
Asked when the album is due after she hinted at it upon bowing it the first time, Parton said she actually had thought about it before she even got nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
However, details of when the release is are not yet finalized. But she probably wants to include these two acts on her debut rock album.
Billboard noticed that the 76-year-old posted a photo with Mick Jagger a month ago.
Dolly then said that she wanted to collaborate with The Rolling Stone vocalist and the band on the upcoming effort.
Yeah, I loved him, and I love "Satisfaction." I'm hoping we're both around long enough when I get to do this record that he'll come sing with me, and I may have to use The Rolling Stones to play behind me. I might do something like that - try to get some different rock bands, some of the classic bands, to back me on some of the songs I do and then do two or three or four originals. I'd like to get in with some of the great rock groups and do some things," she hinted.
Dolly then "graciously" accepted the nomination last week. She, along with Eminem, Pat Benatar, Eminem, Eurythmics, Duran Duran, and Carly Simon, will be inducted at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Nov. 5, 2022, at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
