Parklife Festival 2022: Tickets Go Onsale From Anti-Tout Scheme

In an effort to give fans enough number of tickets in a music festival or even concerts, some organizers have now developed a way to reduce the purchases of bots and scalpers so that real goers can actually purchase the tickets at the right price.

In 2017, Ticketmaster introduced the "Verified Fan Programme" in an attempt to "drive a cultural shift" in the live music business ahead of its expansion in the United Kingdom. (via Music Week)

The "Verified Fan Programme" is built to keep tickets away from touts and bots by using a sophisticated algorithm to determine whether the customers are real fans since less than 5% of the tickets bought reportedly end up in a secondary market.

After rigorous verification, registrants will then receive a code to give them a chance to buy the tickets.

This is because some bots or touts sell the tickets which were bought at a lower price to a higher price point either after the tickets have already sold out or days before the actual event.

"The premise of Verified Fan is based on the data given to us by consumers. We can tell whether you're likely to use the tickets you buy. If we believe you're likely to resell them, we don't invite you to buy them," the Ticketmaster North America EVP Head of Music David Marcus explained.

For the highly-anticipated Parklife Festival 2022, ticket resales are ongoing that stemmed from the anti-tout scheme and failed payment plans.

NME reports that the festival organizers have teamed up with the Greater Manchester Police to track fake or stolen tickets that were resold to unsuspected victims at a higher price.

Aside from this, failed payment plans initially placed by attendees of the festival are now up for grabs for the June 11-12 music festival.
