Halsey revealed the truth about the health diagnoses she revealed after giving birth.
Halsey, who goes by she/they pronouns interchangeably, made her fans worry when they disclosed on Tuesday that their health changed since they got pregnant and gave birth. She took her time to discuss the diagnoses in their videos, saying that they have been dealing with other stuff aside from anaphylaxis.
Aside from the endometriosis she was previously diagnosed with, the singer shared that they have also been diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome), and POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome).
Fans assumed that they got all the diseases in one go after their birth. But it turned out that the "Without Me" hitmaker have been experiencing the issues for eight years before receiving the final diagnoses.
Halsey Suffering From Health Issues for Years
In their new post on Instagram Story, Halsey said that they have been sick for a long time, but her illnesses only got their names recently.
"I went to doctors for 8 years. Trying to figure out what was wrong with me. I was called crazy and anxious and lazy amongst other things. I changed my entire lifestyle," they said. "When I wasn't working I was essentially confined to my home for fear of how I'd feel when I woke up each morning. It took me a long time to get to even have a diagnosis so I'm celebrating!"
They reminded everyone not to "roll their eyes" at their sick friends as they might be fighting a sickness that doctors could not name yet.
The artist recalled how she spent her time figuring out what was happening inside their body and that the symptoms led them to think they had an autoimmune disease.
Despite the health issues they are facing, Halsey assured fans that they would continue her "Love and Power" tour, which is set to begin next month. Per the singer, they are not on a treatment plan right now, so it will allow them to be with their fans again.
The Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, causes immediate allergic reactions in a patient. It happens when the mast cells inside a person's body release too much substance that causes the reactions.
Meanwhile, Sjögren's syndrome is an autoimmune disease that affects the parts of one's body that produce fluids, including saliva and tears.
As for Halsey's POTS and EDS, both diseases distress the body by affecting the blood flow and weakening the connective tissues, respectively.
