Pearl Jam's Matt Cameron is speaking out a day after an outlet published a report stating that the late Taylor Hawkins wanted to tour less with Foo Fighters before he passed away.

The article in question, titled "Inside Taylor Hawkin's Final Days as a Foo Fighter," was published by Rolling Stone where it featured several quotes from other musicians, including Cameron.

The drummer previously collaborated with the late legend in Nighttime Boogie Association.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Cameron said his statement was taken out of context and used against him.

Taking to his official Instagram account, the musician claimed that he assumed the report would be a celebration of Hawkins' life and work, so he agreed to partake in the interview.

However, his quotes were misunderstood and "shaped into a narrative that I never intended."

He later clarified that the late drummer was a dear friend to him.

Cameron also took the opportunity to apologize to surviving members of the band.

"I have only the deepest love and respect for Taylor, Dave and the Foo Fighters families. I am truly sorry to have taken part in this interview and I apologize that my participation may have caused harm to those for whom I have only the deepest respect and admiration," he concluded. (via Loudwire)

The latest statement comes a day after the report included a quote from Cameron wherein he detailed his previous conversation with Hawkins, saying the late legend had a heart-to-heart talk with frontman Dave Grohl where he said he "couldn't f****** do it anymore."

The alleged reason was a "crazier" touring schedule, and he tried to keep up with it.

Taylor Hawkins passed away on March 25 in his hotel room in Bogota, Colombia, a few hours before Foo Fighters were set to perform at a concert.

As of this writing, his cause of death remains a mystery, but a preliminary toxicology report revealed that he had several substances in his body.

On the other hand, Matt Cameron is currently isolating from his Pearl Jam bandmates after testing positive for COVID-19.

The incident led the band to invite a fan to play the drums for them on stage during one of their shows in North America.
