Raise your slushies up, Gleeks - the Emmy-Winning Television Hit Show "Glee" premiered exactly thirteen years ago today!
Totalling 121 episodes across six seasons, "Glee" produced over 720 musical performances before it ended in March 2015.
The genre-spanning musical television show was considered a pop culture reset as it has paved the way for modern television to integrate socially relevant topics into musical performances, and reality high school drama.
In honor of the celebration, we have listed down eight iconic performances from the show that you might have forgotten already!
8 Iconic 'Glee' Performances That You Might Have Forgotten
Somebody To Love (The Rhodes Not Taken)
Starting off the list is one of the first few musical performances of New Directions. In "The Rhodes Not Taken," guest star Kristin Chenoweth almost took the solo spot on this now-iconic performance. The New York Times and LA Times deemed the performance Glee's best musical number since Pilot's "Don't Stop Believin'."
Empire State of Mind (Audition)
Fresh from their shameful loss at Regionals, the New Directions sang 2009's song of the summer, "Empire State of Mind." The performance is one of the many snubbed attempts of the glee club in McKinley's courtyard to woo auditionees.
The Scientist (The Break Up)
Performing one of Coldplay's most iconic hits, the song was mainly iconic but all for sad reasons. "The Scientist" saw the break up of the show's three main couples: Finchel, Brittana, and Klaine.
Tiktok (Blame It On The Alcohol
A hungover New Directions ironically performs in front of the school's assembly to discuss underage drinking. Nearing the end of the performance, Brittany and Santana threw up onstage - literally Glee's messiest performance.
Seasons of Love (The Quarterback)
Long before the actual performance of this song at the show, fans have rallied to have New Directions sing the "Rent" hit. However, it took Cory Montieth's Finn Hudson's death for the group to sing it – by far the saddest Glee song.
Forget You (The Substitute)
When a sick Will Schuester goes absent, guest star Gwyneth Paltrow took over as the substitute Glee teacher - surprising everyone with a "buttered" entrance and belting out Cee Lo's "Forget You." Paltrow won an Emmy as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for this episode.
Paradise By The Dashboard Light (Nationals)
Glee's winning National piece deserved to be on this list. The Meatloaf hit was the culmination of the New Direction's years of effort - earning their long-deserved National Show Choir Championship Trophy. Perfect choreography and killer vocals from Finn and Rachel sealed their top spot.
Don't Stop Believin' (100)
This wouldn't be a Glee list if there is no "Don't Stop Believin'." The Journey hit was sung numerous times on the show, but the least talked about rendition but was by far one of the bests is when the ensemble performed it in the auditorium at the show's 100th episode - this was the last time the song was sung on the show and also the only one without Cory Montieth/Finn Hudson.
