Bad news for Doja Cat fans! After months of preparing to go on tour with The Weeknd, the rapper won't be joining the singer on his shows anymore after sharing her current health condition.
Taking to her Instagram stories, the "Woman" hitmaker started the message by saying she wanted her fans to hear the news from her first.
"Unfortunately I have to have surgery on my tonsils asap. The surgery is routine but the recovery is going to take awhile due to swelling," she wrote with white text over a black background.
Since she's going through something medically, the rapper said she had to cancel her festival run during the summertime as well as her co-headlining tour with The Weeknd.
"I feel horrible about this but can't wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y'all," she concluded. (via Billboard)
Doja Cat Details Graphic Surgery on Twitter
Doja Cat's recent announcement comes a day after she shocked fans on Twitter by sharing a series of tweets detailing that she underwent tonsil surgery because of a growing abscess.
"dr. just had to cut into my left tonsil. i had an abscess in it. my whole throat is f***** so i might have some bad news for yall coming soon," she wrote.
The "Say So" songstress said her tonsils got infected before this year's Billboard Music Awards, and she was taking antibiotics.
However, she forgot, so she drank wine and vaped all day, then started getting a "nasty-a** growth on my tonsil," leading her to undergo surgery.
The rapper took the opportunity online to answer some fan questions about her surgery, but there were followers who urged her to quit smoking her vape.
The 26-year-old star said she's "addicted" to vaping but clarifies that throwing them away "just instills panic."
Is Doja Cat's Condition Alarming?
According to Web MD, Doja Cat's condition, peritonsillar abscess, causes a patient to suffer from pain, swelling, and in worse cases, blockage of the throat.
Speaking, swallowing, and breathing will also be a significant problems throughout the process.
The condition is a collection of infected material or "pus" in the area around the tonsils.
Mount Sinai reported that it could be life-threatening if not treated immediately, an abscess can rupture into the throat, which will travel into the lungs to cause pneumonia.
