Halsey is taking a big risk by speaking out against their record label after it allegedly didn't allow them to release new music unless they do a shocking thing online.
In a video posted on TikTok, the "Young God" hitmaker claims that they wanted to release new music as soon as possible, but their record label won't let them.

Halsey then added that they have been working in the music industry for over eight years and have sold 165 million records; however, their record label allegedly told them they couldn't drop a new song unless they faked a viral moment on the platform.
"Everything is marketing, and they are doing this to every artist these days. I just want to release music, man, and I deserve better, tbh. I'm tired," they concluded. (via ET Canada)
According to Variety, Halsey is signed under Astralwerks, whose distributor is Capitol Records.
The music giants have not publicly commented on the matter as of this writing.
This isn't the first time the singer had a problem with their record company, as they previously opened up to Apple Music's Zane Lowe while promoting their album "If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power."
Halsey shared what was apparently the label's reaction to her pregnancy at the time.
"You have to call the CEO of X, Y, Z and say, 'Hey, hi. I'm just calling to let you know I'm pregnant. I didn't want you to find out on Instagram. I wanted to tell you myself, personally. It's still business as usual over here though, don't worry,'" they said.
The singer/songwriter added that their personal choice isn't going to affect the company's profitability or assembly line.
"Also, in what world would you ever have to call me to tell me that you were having a baby? But I have to call you because it impacts your product," the "Ghost" songstress added.
The outlet noted that it's common for a record label to manufacture "viral moments" on TikTok as its algorithm help artists boost their viewers, meaning it's all marketing strategies.
Last month, The Kid Laroi and Scooter Braun had a fake feud on the platform to promote his song "Thousand Miles."
