Twitter is in a huge debate. Fans are arguing who deserves to be at the rightful spot of the 2010 Hip Hop Mount Rushmore. Is it going to be Nicki Minaj or Future?
While the Mount Rushmore debate has long been going on in the hip hop community - the debate was revived again after a Dreamville Fan Account posted another poll similar to what Spotify RapCaviar did in 2021.
Hip-Hop Mount Rushmore of 2010
Spotify's fan-voted poll last year resulted in a close fight between Nicki Minaj and Kanye West.
Eventually, Queen Nicki emerged as the winner - neck to neck with Kanye and a huge gap with Future and Lil Wayne. The Queen of Rap has gone alongside other Hip-hop heavyweights like Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole.
In today's debate, another set of hip-hop icons is put into a vote. Minaj remains the sole female among the male-dominated list, while Future is retained. Travis Scott and Tyler The Creator are the newcomers to the informal poll.
But as of this writing, Nicki is again in a close fight, but now with Future. The new poll got fans of both camps talking about who really deserved the spot.
Nicki Minaj vs Future? Who's the last person on HipHop Mount Rushmore?
Barbz, Nicki Minaj fans, argued that this conversation was already settled. Noting that the 2010 Hip-hop Mount Rushmore was already immortalized through several murals mounted all over the United States, adhering to RapCaviar's poll result last year.
On the other hand, Future, who is leading the poll by a slim margin, has his fans rallying behind him - particularly noting his pioneering work in Trap music.
In a comical exchange on Rap Caviar's quote tweet, Nicki, who won last year, quote tweeted Lebron James' answer to the poll - which is Future - the same day the poll declared her as the winner.
