A$AP Rocky's highly-anticipated album might be one of his biggest yet, and it comes at around a particularly special time for the rapper - months after Rihanna gave birth to their child.
The upcoming album, which will be a sequel to his 2018 album "Testing," is hinted to take a different shift in sound and an elevating spectacle.
A$AP Rocky New Album 2022 Comes During 1st Year of Baby With Rihanna?
Speaking to an interview about the update for his upcoming fourth studio album, A$AP Rocky talks to Dazed weeks after his infamous arrest in LAX Airpot and the birth of his first-born.
Contrary to initial circulating rumors, A$AP Rocky's new album was confirmed that it would be not titled "All Smiles." In 2019, the tidbit was "announced" after it coincided with an AWGE t-shirt collaboration of the same name that Selfridges has released.
"I'm wrapping up the new album now; I've been shooting so many visuals for it. I don't want to be cliche or sound like a salesman, but I've pushed myself to the limit on everything," the "Praise the Lord" hitmaker said.
Per Rocky, he will be going from the "industrial and subversive sound" from his album "Testing" then graduating to a more "polished sound."
Aside from his new route in sound, it might seem that the "Fashion Killa" singer's next album would have influences from the 60s music.
"I'm listening to a lot of hip hop, but also the classics. The 60s is my era. I listen to The Stones, obviously. The Zombies, The Monkees, Jefferson Airplane. Jimi Hendrix, of course! James Brown. This is technically [from the] early 70s, but my favourite rock album is Electric Warrior by T. Rex," he mentioned.
Despite being born almost two decades after it, A$AP Rocky felt connected to the 60s era of music. For him, it was the time that The Beatles had spent their money, splurging themselves and traveling to places.
The album, which would come in the coming months, coincides with the arrival of his baby boy - to which A$AP Rocky revealed that he wishes to raise as "open-minded."
"I will always remind my children to never lose their imagination, even as adults, no matter what," he noted.
A$AP Rocky released the music video for his latest single starring Rihanna earlier this month.
