Foo Fighters' New Album: First Audio Clip Released [LISTEN]

Late Thursday night, Foo Fighters released the first audio clip from their new album, and it's loud.

No guitars. No drums. No melodious chorus. Just a hoarse yell from Dave Grohl that spans the entirety of the eight-second video.

Translation: "All riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiise!"

While strikingly different from Taylor Swift's album clues on YouTube, the guttural scream is not without nuance. Note that the video only lasts eight seconds, which continues a trend of "eights" that Dave and the gang's promotional materials appear to be pushing.

As previously noted, Foo Fighters have been posting a series of coordinates on their Twitter account, one for each city that they recorded their new album in (there's eight in total). At each coordinate, a poster can be found containing images of some of the city's landmarks. When all eight posters are put together, however, as they were over at Reddit, you get this image:

While the untitled new album does not yet have an official release date, the band noted that "big news" is coming on Monday.

That likely means more details on FF's eighth studio album, their first since 2011's Wasting Light (also recorded with current producer Butch Vig).

The group reportedly recorded this new album all across the country, with one song recorded in each city. Every song features a guest musician from the city it was recorded in, including Gary Clark, Jr. in Austin, Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen in Chicago, and the Eagles' Joe Walsh in Los Angeles. The album's recording process was documented in Foo Fighters Sonic Highways, an HBO series set to premiere in October.
