Steps would not reunite. They will not perform together for the Eurovision Song Contest. The band members are said to be in conflict with each other regarding participation in the Eurovision Song Contest.
While Ian 'H' Watkins, Lisa Scott-Lee, and Claire Richards would gladly represent the United Kingdom at the yearly music extravaganza, bandmates Faye Tozer and Lee Latchford-Evans are far less enthusiastic since they believe it could jeopardize their already quite admirable legacy.
Because it's one thing to win, but losing can be damaging - at least that is what they think.
Faye told the Daily Star Sunday columnist Ed Gleave that "we are a split camp within the band. H would do it tomorrow. Lisa and Claire would probably want to do it as well. But I am not so much in favour of it."
Lee added that, "It's a very mixed camp and I agree with Faye. We'd like to do it for the experience if all the other bits weren't there - the nil points, the politics."
According to Faye, the band has got such an amazing legacy behind them that she does not think doing this contest would do them any favors. "It's the whole 'nil points' thing," she added. She revealed that very early on, while the band was still in full swing, they were already approached about the prospect, but "certain rules" prevented them from participating.
Faye said one of the rules was that the band could not and should not release music for a certain period of time or chart and she did not like that.

"Luckily for me, we never fitted into that category and couldn't do it," she quipped.
Claire previously acknowledged that the the the "One For Sorrow" hitmaker "could" participate in Eurovision and that it would be a "wonderful" experience, but she would also be concerned about placing last.
She stated that going into the show, it is likely that they would expect themselves to win, but this can be a damaging mindset. Finishing last would be devastating.
Back in June 4, at the conclusion of Steps' performance on ITV's Big Jubilee Street Party, everyone was wondering where band member Lee Latchford-Evans went. The fifth member of the band was absent from the performance of megamix of the '90s pop giants' greatest singles, including Deeper Shade of Blue, Stomp, and One For One.
Fans on Twitter were eager to inquire about the singer's whereabouts as the other members, notably Ian 'H' Watkins of Rhondda, continued the megamix without him and his vocals were inserted as a backing track.
Lee has appeared in all social media posts promoting their newly-announced greatest hits album, Steps Platinum Collection, which will be released on August 19, but his absence was not mentioned in the as the rest performed. It's as if they think fans simply would not notice.
However, Lee was performing with the band at the Mighty Hoopla Festival back on June 3.
