Smokey Robinson: Mary J. Blige
Smokey Robinson: Elton John
Starting off with a standard take on the old favorite, the song suddenly scratches off and transitions into an upswing of pep and old school happiness.
Green's and Robinson's voices work spectacularly well together, with each bringing their own individual brand of soul. The song is a nice throwback to a simpler time, and it's all about loving "The Way You Do The Things You Do."
In an interview with Billboard about his duets album Smokey & Friends, Robinson emphasized his mutual love of covers and tributes. "As a songwriter, my fondest dream is that someone records my songs ... And most of the people who have recorded my songs have been songwriters themselves, so for them to pick one of my songs and do it is a real joy. So I love any version, any way they do 'em," he said.
