Many fans have been waiting for Demi Lovato to release new music after the success of their last album, "Dancing With the Devil... The Art of Starting Over," in 2021; finally, the songwriter has announced the release date of their new record.
According to Pitchfork, Lovato's upcoming album is titled "Holy Fvck." The record will feature 16 fresh tracks and will released on August 19 via Island Records.
The former Disney star, who identifies as non-binary and prefers "they/them" pronouns, took to their Instagram account to share the official album art, featuring them clad in a bondage-inspired outfit, lying in a dirty cross-shaped mattress with a red background and intense vignette.
In a statement obtained by the outlet, Lovato revealed that the process of making their new album has been "the most fulfilling yet."
They expressed their gratitude to fans and collaborators for staying with them throughout the journey.
"Never have I been more sure of myself and my music, and this record speaks that for itself," they added.
Lovato said the album is dedicated to their "Lovatics" who have been with them since the beginning and "those who are just now coming along for the ride."
The "Camp Rock" star will release the album's lead single titled "Skin of My Teeth" this Friday, June 10.
They will also perform the song for the first time on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on June 9.
The song was written by Lovato, Alex Niceforo, Keith Sorrells, Aaron Puckett (Lil Aaron), and Laura Veltz. Warren "Oak" Felder produces the track.
As of this writing, the singer has not revealed the featuring artists and official tracklist of the upcoming album.
In early reports, it appears that the singer is going back to their punk rock origin based on the recent teaser of the song as electric guitars and catchy beats accompany their powerhouse vocals.
Lovato's first two albums "Don't Forget" and "Here We Go Again," under Disney's Hollywood Records, fall under the punk rock genre.
Throughout the years, the "Fire Starter" singer has shifted focus to pop music.
The latest album announcement comes a few months after Lovato teased fans about new music, saying it's their "absolute best yet" and "so representative" of who they are.
The "In Case" hitmaker's last album featured a handful of collaborators like Ariana Grande, Saweetie, Sam Fischer, and Noah Cyrus.
