Elvis Presley's songwriter almost quit the industry for good after working with the late legend.

Presley earned the title of The King of Rock and Roll due to the best things he did throughout his career. He also set several world records when he was still alive, including Most Hit Singles on US Chart, Most US No. 1 Albums By A Male Solo Artist, Most Hit Albums On UK Chart, Most RIAA Certificates Held By A Single Artist, and Most Charted Artist, to name a few.

But with popularity comes with troubling downsides that also exhausted his songwriter.

Presley's songwriter, Jerry Chestnut, opened up about working with the singer in a number of his songs, including "T-R-O-U-B-L-E."

Presley released the song in 1975 through his 22nd studio album, "Today." As usual, the single immediately reached the peaked of success, entering the Billboard 100's Top 40 and almost getting the top spot in the US Hot Country Songs chart.

But the song's popularity almost ended Chestnut's career.

"I probably shouldn't tell this, but I'm gonna tell you the truth. I was a publisher also, and I had published all of these songs. We shipped to all of the little [radio] stations, and the record label would ship to all of the big stations," he said.

Due to the extremely exhausting legwork, he no longer enjoyed working in the industry. The workloads with the logistics behind publishing music also became dreadful.

Although he left his job afterward, Chestnut worked with him again in "Woman Without Love," but it was a failure.

Elvis Presley's Death Recollected

"T-R-O-U-B-L-E" was released nearly two years before Presley's tragic death.

The singer died on Aug. 16, 1977 at 1:30 p.m, inside his Memphis mansion due to heart attack that was likely worsened by his addiction to prescription barbiturates.

Presley and his fiancée Ginger Alden visited his dentist, Lester Hoffman, a day before his death due to persistent tooth pain. Upon returning to Graceland, he called his personal physician, Dr. Nichopoulos, to ask for painkillers.

The drugs seemingly led to his death as he took three separate packages of pills and painkillers before suffering from extreme constipation. Hours later, he was found dead on his bathroom's floor.

Aside from overdose, Presley suffered other health issues before his passing. He was hospitalized multiple times due to an enlarged colon, pneumonia, hepatitis, and pleurisy.
