Chris Poland, the former guitarist of the iconic metal band Megadeth, left the group in the late 80s. Today he candidly discussed his life and job after he worked with his previous bandmates.

In an interview with The Metal Voice, the musician recalled leaving the group after they released "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying."

Following this, he started looking for jobs to sustain his needs. He ended up working at a local diner as a waiter.

"I was bussing tables from midnight to 8AM. I would be bussing tables on a weekend, and some guy would go, 'Dude, you're Chris Poland!' And I'd have to go, 'Yeah, I am!" he said.

The experience was weird for the guitarist as people would look at him like "Dude, what the f*** are you doing here?" then he'd explain his situation, saying he needed to eat and pay rent.

At the time, Poland said it was odd to endure working at a diner while his bandmates continue to thrive as the band was "beyond gold" at the time.

"Megadeth was beyond gold - Peace Sells was really like a train, and here I am bussing tables in the middle of the night at Denny's," he added.

According to Loudwire, the musician joined the legendary thrash metal band in 1984. It was long rumored that drummer Gar Samuelson recommended Poland to Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson as they were former bandmates.

The former guitarist went on to work with the band for their first two albums "Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!" and "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?"

After his brief time with Megadeth, Poland worked as a solo artist as well as a part of other bands. He released his first studio album "Return to Metalpolis" in 1990.

Three years later, he released "Damn the Machine," the only album from the band of the same name.

Throughout his career, he's been featured in several collaborations and works with other bands like OHM, Mumbo's Brain, Polcat, and Lamb of God.

When asked about his decision to leave Megadeth, Poland said it was "meant to be" and it got to the point that it wasn't working for each member of the band and it's best that he didn't stay with them.

He also revealed that he never had the chance to speak with Dave Mustaine since "The System has Failed" in 2004.
