The Kid Laroi's career skyrocketed fast over the past few years as he continues to release new music and collaborate with prominent artists like Post Malone and Justin Bieber. At his young age, the singer needed guidance to grapple his way around the industry. However, someone in his family is reportedly causing problems.
According to insiders who spoke to Page Six, the 18-year-old Australian musician has been thriving in the industry, but there's "chaos" happening behind closed doors.
The "Stay" hitmaker is reportedly scouting for top managers and lawyers in the US entertainment scene with the guidance of his single mother.
The source said he's been through several managers and lawyers, and they all loved him; however, they have a different view on his mom, Sloan Howard, as they believe she has been "bad for his career."
In past interviews, Laroi revealed he treats his mother as his best friend and the "greatest protector."
Sloan is no stranger to the entertainment industry as she is an experienced talent manager who has handled celebrities in the past. She's also a music executive who guided the careers of previous winners of Australia's version of "American Idol."
However, despite her determination, she now has a bad record after being arrested for credit card fraud. Sources pointed out her recent arrest as one of the reasons why she's "unstable."
According to the Daily Mail UK, Sloan was arrested upon returning to Sydney from Los Angeles, California.
She faced Downing Centre Local Court last month and pleaded not guilty.
Her next court date will be on June 27, but she can ditch the hearing if a lawyer is representing her.
The mother-and-son duo had a lavish lifestyle when Laroi was a kid. He attended an exclusive school called Mosman Church of England Preparatory School, and people remember seeing Sloan dropping off her son in a sports car.
However, their life changed dramatically after his parents separated.
Laroi and his mom moved into a housing commission at Waterloo.
The latest news comes a month after The Kid Laroi switched managements after leaving Adam Leber's Rebel Management.
A source revealed that the CEO and founder of the company was in favor of the singer, but there was a conflict with the internal team.
He was previously signed with Scooter Braun's SB Project, but he only stayed with the management for three months.
