Beyonce's next album, "Rennaisance" finally gets its lead single later at midnight and it is quite monumental.
Set for release at midnight tonight, "Break My Soul" would be Queen B's as it is her first solo studio album's lead single in more than six years.
While the album details remain foggy, up until now, the lead single dropping later tonight would be a great sneek peek of what it is to come from Beyonce's new music.
Beyonce's 'Break My Soul' First Lead Single In Over Six Years
While the Beyhive are eagerly waiting for Jul. 29, 2022 to come, the Queen B has confirmed some fans' hunches with an Instagram update.
Beyonce's Instagram bio has been the source of information for her upcoming album. The bio now reads "6. BREAK MY SOUL midnight ET" - announcing that the song - on what seemed to clearly be a lead single, is dropping midnight tonight.
Like the album, nothing much is known on the details of the upcoming song, except that it's her sixth song in the 16-tracked project.
Just like some fans have anticipated, Beyonce would be taking advantage of this year's Juneetenth celebration to release new music. This is not the first time that the GRAMMY-winning artist has released a song on the wee hours of Juneteenth.
In Juneteenth 2020, Beyonce released "Black Parade," the charity single she released for "The Lion King: The Gift," a soundtrack for the photo-realistic adaptation of the Disney hit "The Lion King."
The song was releeased in wake of the George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter Protests at the time.
But aside from "Black Parade," the new lead single "Break My Soul" proceeds Beyonce's iconic "Formation" - which was her last lead single to date.
Both tracks contained social justice themes, so it would not be a shocker if Beyonce's upcoming single would contain such themes too.
On the other hand, Pitchfork reported that the new single is a dance song that is "intended to mark the start of a new era with new anthems."
The dance song makes perfect sense. Days ago, sources say that "Renaissance" would prominently feature country and dance songs - as both genres were not uncharted territory for Beyonce.
This marks Beyonce's newest song since the Oscar-nominated song, "Be Alive" last November 2021.
