Judges on the television talent show America's Got Talent received an unexpected blast of death metal on June 28. Britney Spears' "Toxic" was transformed into something "demonic" when performed by the Dremeka Choir, and it was quite a shock. Not only that, the group also claimed to be the world's only metal choir.
The choir's performance for judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara began with an intense rendition of the medieval poem "O Fortuna," best known for its use in Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana." This was notable for subsequently being used in the horror classic "The Omen."
This was already enough to shock the judges and even scare them a bit, but things got more interesting when they transitioned into a death metal choral reworking of Britney Spears' "Toxic."
That, to be honest, no one could have foreseen. Spears' song has already been edgy, but not that edgy.
Heidi Klum, a model and television host, was not pleased by the sight or sound of thirteen death metal vocalists howling into her face. Or she just wasn't too keen to see a Britney Spears masterpiece reworked into something unrecognizable. She quickly hit the X button, which prompted Cowell to ask why.
Apparently, Simon Cowell was quite impressed by the trio. The crowd was too, which gave the group a standing ovation before the judges gave their opinions.

"It's like demons in a choir singing the song from The Omen," he noted. "It was so fantastically creepy. I'm all for going over to the dark side eventually, so I get it."
Klum said that she is well aware that she's the odd one among the judges, and said that she does not think anyone would pay to watch the group. In their defense, the group said that it is not surprising Klum was so shocked because they were the only first metal choir worldwide.
"I think you're opening the eyes and ears of America on our stage," Howie Mandel said of the troupe.
The Colombian actress/model Sofia Vergara praised the choir for their creativity and praised their "very spectacular" audition, stating that the music evoked images of "dragons or vampires" in a film, before joining Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel in giving the group a resounding "Yes" and advancing them to the next round of competition.
