Bruno Falcon, who was famously known as "Pop N Taco," died. He was 58.
MJ Beats first confirmed the news about Falcon's untimely death, saying he died on Saturday at his Long Beach home. The report was later supported by a statement of his sister, Diana Wolgamott, to a news outlet.
Per Wolgamot, she and the whole family suspect that Bruno Falcon's cause of death was due to a heart attack. Still, they consider his death natural, and no autopsy will be done to determine further details about his passing.
His friends and colleagues also disclosed the news to the public, saying that the legendary hip-hop star truly died.
Rapper Ice-T, who worked with him in the film "Breakin,'" said that he got a text about Falcon's death. He also expressed his regret as his pal was still young.
"I've said this many times on here. Breakin' was a major part of my intro to the culture as a kid. I know dialogue from it verbatim. I used to copy all the moves. And this man was my favorite. RIP to the legend Bruno "Pop n Taco" Falcon," Dee Phunk added.
Bruno Falcon's Legacy
The Los Angeles native became a popular dancer in the 1980s by mixing breaking, locking, and popping. Outside the hip-hop industry, he landed his big break after playing an antagonist role in "Breakin'," a movie about Hip-Hop culture.
His career was not smooth, though, as some people questioned his capacity due to his Mexican heritage. In an interview, Falcon said others could not believe Mexicans could pop.
"People couldn't believe there was a Mexican who could pop. They would challenge me in front of the school or a party or a high school dance. They'd come out, right at you, right in front of your face," he said, as quoted by All Hiphop.
But he proved them wrong and even worked with the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. He appeared in the late singer's "Moonwalker," "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey," and "Thumbelina."
He famously created the lean dance sequence in MJ's "Smooth Criminal" and taught him more about locking and popping.
Falcon joined Chaka Khan's "I Feel For You" and Lionel Richie's "All Night Long" music videos. He also choreographed Man in the Mirror singer's HIStory tour in the 1990s.
In the years leading to his death, he maintained a low profile but still worked with MJ and Janet Jackson.
