Harper Beckham is certainly not her mom Victoria's "Wannabe." While she might certainly be proud her mom is part of the Spice Girls, one of the most iconic girlbands to date, the young girl has taken no liking to her mom's "Posh Spice" look and persona.
Victoria Beckham admitted in a recent interview with Vogue Australia that her only daughter is not a fan of the racy outfits she wore while performing with the renowned girl group in the 1990s.
"She actually said to me recently, 'Mummy, I've seen some pictures of you when you were in the Spice Girls and your skirts were just unacceptable. They were just too short,'" the 48-year-old fashion designer shared.
"Then David piped up and said, 'Absolutely, Harper! They really, really were.' And she was actually quite disgusted at how short my skirts were," she hilariously recalled.
While Beckham was renowned for her penchant for teeny-tiny bra tops and Tom Ford for Gucci tube dresses -Harper's personal style is shaping up to be considerably more modest. Harper said she would never wear those short skirts, but Victoria Beckham would rather take a "let's see" attitude. After all, never say never. AT present though, the mom is quite proud that her daughter "is not one of these teenagers that go out wearing heavy makeup and a crop top."
She's more worried about her child changing her mind about her own body than her fashion sense. Victoria Beckham told Vogue Australia that she hopes Harper does not spend too much time on Instagram, which she finds "very alarming."
She stated that Harper is not on social media, so she is not yet body-shamed. But it's not impossible, and the mom is really worried. More so when she is sure her child's body would change and she would have to deal with people's opinions. She just hopes Harper would open up to them when the time comes so they can address concerns as a family and that there would be good friends surrounding her girl.
Along with boys Brooklyn, 23, Romeo, 19, and Cruz, 17, the fashion icon shares Harper with former professional footballer David Beckham.
Does Harper's opinion of her Spice Girls' getup likely to affect chances of a reunion with the other girls though?
Apparently not. In fact, there are talks of a grand reunion in 2023.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: "There have been bumps in the road, particularly where Geri is concerned, but the plan is still that the girls' world tour will go ahead next year. The idea is that it will kick off in 2023, and finish at Glastonbury. Victoria has previously said that she would perform with them at the festival. So that would be the perfect way to round off the tour."
