Elvis Presley seemingly lost his King of Rock and Roll title during his final days and lived as "Fat Elvis" instead.
Presley's dramatic physical transformation horrified his fans - even Linda Thompson - as he was a far cry from what he looked like during his heyday.
Even on the day that he died in 1977, the singer reportedly weighed 350 pounds - around 187 pounds more than what he weighed a decade before his death. He was first found unresponsive by his girlfriend, Ginger Alden, on his bathroom floor in his Graceland home.
At that time, he was rushed to the hospital but eventually died of cardiac arrest. It happened after Presley allegedly took three separate packages of pills and painkillers to help himself fall asleep before his concert in Portland, Maine, but suffered extreme constipation instead.
As he showed worrying features during his final concerts, fans noticed that he was too bloated, sweating profusely and looking unhealthier than before. Because of this, fans started to ask how he got fat in the first place.
One theory suggested that his gluttony led him to gain so much weight. In fact, James Gregory's 1960 biography "The Elvis Presley Story" also proved how heavy eater the King of Rock and Roll was.
"Note for his future wife: Elvis loves enormous breakfasts complete with sausage, bacon, eggs, fried potatoes, home-baked rolls, and coffee. He has a tremendous appetite at breakfast. His wife should never develop elegant or expensive tastes," Gregory said.
Elvis Presley Tried To Lose Weight But Failed?
As a sex symbol, Presley reportedly wanted to go back to his old shape. With that, he reportedly took extremely dangerous measures to lose weight.
For instance, he once tried to follow a diet in which he only consumed nothing but jelly made of his favorite black cherry soda and bananas. He also asked a doctor to put him into a medically induced coma for weight loss.
Unfortunately, it did not last long when he fell out of his bed and woke up on his own.
His risky diet caused him to gain three and a half stone, but it ballooned to 25 stone eventually.
In the end, The Mirror noted that Elvis Presley's health deteriorated more and caused glaucoma, hypertension, liver damage, and an enlarged colon.
