Remy Ma has something to say about today's female rappers - and she recruited Rapsody to tell that in a new song.
DJ Premier has dropped his latest compilation release, "Hip Hop 50 Vol. 1," which features Nas, Lil Wayne, and Remy Ma, among many others.
The veteran female rapper was particularly vocal recently on who qualifies as a rapper, which she now double downs on the new song.
DJ Premier, Remy Ma, Rapsody New Collab' Remy Rap'
DJ Premier released his newest project, "Hip Hop 50 Vol. 1," a compilation of new tracks from hip hop heavyweights like Lil Wayne, Nas, Run The Jewels, Remy Ma, Rapsody, and Joey Bada$ on the new five tracks.
Thanks to Premo, this is the first time Remy Ma and Rapsody will be collaborating on a track - and it's something fans did not know they needed until it was here. (via TMZ)
In the first few bars of "Remy Rap," Remy Ma spitted hard already, proclaiming that there are only "five females in the game that can really rap."
"Got followers and fame and the name so they thinkin' that
They can now be listed with the spitters, bitch, imagine that," the song continues.
With the new feature, two female rappers seemed to be checked on the list already - Remy Ma and Rapsody, who she is collaborating with.
Elsewhere in the song, Remy also alluded to female rappers now who are using social media to boost their sex appeal in hopes for more spins and marketing instead of their pen game.
Weeks ago, Remy on the Seeing Thing Is Podcast talked about how one qualifies as a real rapper in the game.
Per the "Conceited" hitmaker, she believes that in order for an artist to qualify as a rapper, they must have to write their own raps.
For those who don't, she described them to just be a "great karaoke personality."
With the newly-released collab with Rapsody, it seemed like the veteran rapper has seemingly made the list clearer.
Who Are The Five 'Dope' Female Rappers?
Remy Ma is definitely on the five. And since Rapsody is also there, that makes her the automatic second one.
With three rappers more, the comment section seemed to know who fits the bill.
Among the hundreds of comments were flowers to Nicki Minaj, who has also vocal of the same sentiment that Remy has.
Although Cardi B was mentioned several times on the thread, its the other way around, actually, due to the allegations and claims of ghostwriting that emerged earlier in her career.
Ironically, Remy has had a longstanding silent feud with Nicki Minaj and has maintained a friendship with Cardi B in recent months.
Who do you think is the last one to meet Remy Ma's criteria?
