Throughout the years, artists and singers have come and gone; but what remains timeless over time are their works of art.
While some say this new generation of artists can replicate what those who came before did, others argue it cannot be touched.
But in Lizzo's case, one can only hope to recreate the classic hit that is "Lady Marmalade."
Lizzo' Lady Marmalade' Dream Cast
In a recent interview with ELLE Magazine, the "It's About Damn Time" hitmaker was asked who she would pick to be in her dream musical supergroup.
Lizzo was quick to answer the question as she explained that she had thought of this question many times already.
Without hesitation, she said that if they were to do the 2001 jukebox tune "Lady Marmalade" with the "grrrls" of today, she would cast herself as Missy Elliot, among the four.
"SZA as Mya, Doja as Lil Kim, and that's Ariana Grande as Christina Aguilera's part. and we would be fierce," the singer detailed.
While Lizzo's "Lady Marmalade" casting lacks a replacement for P!nk, a fan in the comment section pointed out that she wanted it to be the "So What" singer to reprise her role.
As soon as the interview hit Twitter, fans are arguing about Lizzo's reasonable choices.
"Oh I will 100% be streaming, @Lizzo PLEASE make this happening, I'm getting on my knees and begging," one fan tweeted.
"ns to doja but why would she be lil kim?," a netizen pointed out. But apart from the arguments on who fits better, another fan responded that Normani's casting is better than Lizzo's.
Normani's 'Marmalade' Dream Cast Better Than Lizzo's?
In a tweet last September 2021, ex-Fifth Harmony member Normani responded to a tweet wherein she was included in a fan cast for the same Moulin Rouge classic.
But instead of Lizzo's choices, Megan Thee Stallion was put for Lil Kim, Normani for Mya, and Dua Lipa for P!nk.
Fittingly, Ariana Grande appears on both dream casts, which fans believe to be the best alternative for Christina Aguilera.
However, Nicki Minaj was pressed to be the "obvious" choice for Lil Kim on the poll thread and Katy Perry instead of Dua Lipa.
"Lady Marmalade's" 2021 "Moulin Rouge!" version became the most prominent version of the 1974 classic. The song peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for a total of five weeks, reaping nine platinum certifications from over nine countries worldwide.
