The man suspected of shooting Bronx musician Lil Tjay in an Edgewater, New Jersey Chipotle has been arrested. It can be remembered that the shooter was apprehended following the near fatal event, but not before getting shot himself and hospitalized, just like the rapper.

If Lil Tjay is on his way to recovery, and also making his way back to performing, as has been earlier reported, his shooter is somehow the same. The culprit has been released from the hospital, which means he's somehow recovering too - but he's on the way to being incarcerated.

According to the Daily Voice on July 22, New Jersey police detained Mohamed Konate, 27, and imprisoned him in Rikers Island. Authorities think that Konate sustained gunshot wounds during the attempted robbery of Tjay and that he was previously hospitalized as a result.

The island is home to one of the world's largest penal and mental facilities and has been called New York's most infamous jail. Among the notable inmates were Tupac Shakur, Sid Vicious, Mark David Chapman, and Lil Wayne.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office earlier explained that on June 22, Konate attempted to rob Lil Tjay and his two companions, Antoine Boyd, 22, and Jeffrey Valdez, 24, while they were sitting in a Dodge Durango outside the Promenade retail mall in the Bronx.

Konate allegedly fired near-fatal bullets at Tjay as he resisted, wounding him in the thoracic cavity, which contains the rib cage, heart, lungs, esophagus, and other essential organs. A companion of Tjay was shot once, and Konate was also wounded.

Investigators asserted that a friend helped Konate into a BMW after the shooting and subsequently left him off to Lennox Hill Hospital on Park Avenue in Upper East Manhattan. According to reports, the investigators would not identify the associate because they are collaborating with authorities.

Rapper of "In My Head" was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he reportedly underwent emergency surgery and is currently awake, talking, and breathing on his own. Konate is accused with three charges of attempted murder in the first degree, while two accomplices are charged with unlawful possession of a weapon in the second degree.

Destined 2 Win, Lil Tjay's most recent album, was released in 2021. It featured the Billboard Hot 100 smash "Calling My Phone" with 6LACK, as well as "Headshot" with Fivio Foreign and Polo G. Recently, he released two new singles titled "In My Head" and "Goin Up."

After the shooting, fans have taken to their social media accounts to offer their prayers and ask for updates, as it is unclear how the rapper is faring while said to "recovering." His camp has been quite silent, except for the occasional reports of Lil Tjay already said to be talking and conscious, after sustaining a total of 7 gunshot wounds. A mean feat.
