Travis Scott made it to Rolling Loud after all, even with rumors that he's banned from the event. This added yet another twist to this weekend's massive party.
During Future's Saturday headlining show, he introduced the MC to enormous ovation.
Travis performed at least two of his songs, if not more, and was on stage for a considerable amount of time.
The crowd was in a frenzy, and Travis appeared to be back to his old self in a typical festival atmosphere; this was more analogous to Astroworld than any other event he has performed since. TS, for his part, was ecstatic... and it was clear he adored being here.
According to critics, what transpired was a litmus test for how concertgoers and festivalgoers feel about Travis returning to the stage in this capacity.
Critics surmised that the general feeling is that they want him there, even with the Astroworld tragedy linked to Scott's name.
Some fans have wondered why he wasn't hired to hold this slot if he was going to be there regardless - similar to Kanye, who also showed up randomly on Friday night for a cameo appearance... after canceling his own scheduled appearance at the last minute.
TMZ reported that it's nothing related to their personal issues (Scott with Astroworld, Kanye with his ex-wife). Scott could not execute a full set up to his standards due to logistics and schedule issues, but that a partial set up was still a possibility.
It can be remembered that when Kanye West canceled his Rolling Loud performance, hip-hop aficionados thought that Travis Scott would be the ideal replacement for the "Donda 2" rapper.
One of the Miami festival's creators promptly batted down this notion, stating that Scott's affiliation with the catastrophic mob rush at his Astroworld Festival last year made him a persona non grata with venue management.
However, according to festival organizers, Scott was never prohibited from performing at Hard Rock Stadium, and event co-founder Tariq Cherif made the remark out of irritation.
"We reached out to Travis to headline Rolling Loud, but it couldn't work in such a short time," a spokesperson for the festival revealed to Rolling Stone. "This had nothing to do with any restrictions from the hosting venue Hard Rock Stadium."
