The "Stitches" hitmaker will be taking his well-deserved break and vacation, a thing he claims to have not done in a really long time.
While some fans are heartbroken to hear the announcement, the majority of Shawn Mendes' fans are worried about his real mental health condition, which prompted him to cancel the tour as a whole.
Why Did Shawn Mendes Canceled 'Wonder' Tour 2022?
In a hefty black and white message on his social media accounts recently, Shawn Mendes announced that he would be canceling the remaining dates of the "Wonder" Tour in North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe.
Mendes, however, is not closing his doors for the shows to continue anytime soon, but he will do so after he takes the much-needed time off touring.
The 23-year-old singer squashes rumors that recently emerged that he would be quitting music. He confirmed that the upcoming hiatus would just be for touring but not for making new music.
"I know you all have been waiting so long to see these shows, and it breaks my heart to tell you this but I promise I will be back as soon as I've taken the right time to heal. I love you all and thank you all so much for supporting me and sticking by me on this journey," he said in a statement.
The cancellation came days after Shawn Medes just postponed the shows from Uncasville, Connecticut, and the rest, citing that touring has been "difficult" for him.
Shawn Mendes Mental Health Condition Explored
Burnout and stress are common in the music industry, especially for those who have been performing for a long period and involved in traveling.
For Shawn Mendes, who has been performing since he was fifteen years old, it might be mentally and physically exhausting for him.
Per the statement, the Canadian superstar revealed that he had sought the help of mental health professionals, as he says that he is working with them already.
More so, Shawn further says that the excitement he had before starting the tour might have been "premature" as he confirmed that pressure got into him and he has hit a "breaking point."
As of this writing, Shawn Mendes has not disclosed if he is suffering from any mental illness, but despite that, a breather seemed to be the best thing he needs, as advised by health professionals.
