Tove Lo certainly does not do things the easy way. On July 27, the Swedish singer released the video for "2 Die 4," a song that samples Crazy Frog's "Popcorn."
The video follows the singer as she wanders through a dirt-filled, mountainous terrain surrounded by mountains while wearing only a metallic corset and a gigantic dildo. A mean feat for a woman known for her sexy, feminine energy. Who knew she can have the opposite kind of energy too?
If she wants to make a statement, she has undoubtedly succeeded.
"I wanted to make something nostalgic, sexy, and iconic," Tove Lo says in a statement. "The character for this scene is wonder woman with big dick energy and I just love it."
The BDE in the video can be assumed as a sharp contrast to one fan-favorite track, entitled "Disco Tits."
The short video, created by Kenny Laubbacher, appears to be the prelude of the "True Romance" music video, in which the singer marches toward the camera while holding a sledgehammer.
"Look alive and come with me, you're to die for everyday/When I think about you, the world go less blue, let's do it ovеr again," she sings.
Remembering Disco Tits
As soon as she burst onto the music scene, Tove Lo was recognized for her songwriting ability.
It is evident from her first two chart-topping albums, "Queen of the Clouds" and "Lady Wood," that this is the case.
By the time "Blue Lips" dropped, everyone already know Tove Lo's power.
She adapted the pop mastery techniques she learnt as a member of Max Martin and Shellback's songwriting collaboration, the Wolf Cousins. The resulting collection of songs is one of 2017's most peculiar and addictive pop albums, according to critics.
The album is ultimately powered by the hit "Disco Tits," which quickly became a favorite among the songs included.
When asked what was the story behind it, she answered this: "It's the happiest song I've ever written, honestly. The title came about when I was at Coachella, I just had my first performance there which was a huge feeling. I was wearing this see-through top with mirrors on it that looked like a disco ball had exploded onto my tits. My nickname for the weekend became "disco tits" and I thought, This is a state of mind that I'm very into. A week later I went to the studio and went into the producer's room, and was like, "This is the title, let's start from here."
