Teen Choice Awards 2014: Selena Gomez Wins Ultimate Choice Award, Thanks Mom and Hints at Personal Issues in Speech

The 2014 Teen Choice Awards dished out dozens upon dozens of surfboards on Sunday night (Aug. 10), but the teen-friendly pop culture favorites such as Shailene Woodley, Josh Hutcherson, Pretty Little Liars and the Kardashians could not hold a candle to this year's Ultimate Choice Award winner: Selena Gomez.

Citing her 10-plus Teen Choice Awards and varied work in music, comedy, fashion and beauty, hosts Sarah Hyland and Tyler Posey presented Gomez with her colorful, summer surfboard. Playing clips from her Disney TV show Wizards of Waverly Place, movies such as Getaway and her singles "Come and Get It," "Love You Like A Love Song" and "Slow Down."

Then, she gave a short and simple speech with her newest trophy, possibly hinting at some personal life difficulties from the past month in the process.

"Thank you so much! I have to be honest, especially this month. I cannot thank you guys, amidst all the stuff we deal with personally, you remind me what's important: giving and caring about each other," she said. "There's one thing I want to say. I want to thank my mom so much. She's the greatest human being in the world... she's given up her life for me. Always love your mom."

With the tender tribute to her parent, Gomez left the stage as quickly as she took it, but it wasn't for a lack of gratitude. It was clear throughout the entire speech that Gomez was on the brink of tears.

The Ultimate Choice Award marks yet another Teen Choice Award for Gomez. Since 2009, she has won surfboards for Choice Female Hottie, Choice Celebrity Dancer, Choice Summer Music Star and more.
