The lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Samson, Nicky Moore, has passed away at 75 years old.
Nicky Moore's death has been confirmed on his Official Facebook Page.
According to the tribute, the heavy metal pioneer died last Wednesday morning. Nicky Moore's cause of death has not yet been confirmed by his estate.
However, Louder noted that the 75-year-old vocalist has been living with Parkinson's Disease.
"It is with immense sadness and almost unbearably heavy hearts that we have to let you all know that Nicky - a man larger than life in body and spirit - has sadly passed away this morning. A man that lived a thousand lifetimes in just one has decided he needed a rest. Rest well, dear friend. We will all miss you x," the tribute reads.
Nicky Moore Music Career
Nicky Moore, formally known as Nicholas Charles Moore, was a prominent figure in the early heavy metal scene.
Starting as a choirboy in the United Kingdom, Moore eventually took a liking on hevy metal.
In 1970, he co-founded the band Hackensack and has performed on over 400 live performance in Essex and Liverpool. The band, though Moore's leadership has also been signed to Island Records and has produced their 1972 single "Moving On."
Nicky eventually left the band and switched to Tiger. He then exited the band after more than 10 years and joined Smason in 1981. He replaced a departing Bruce Dickinson as the band's lead singer.
Switching from one band to another has been a habit of Nicky Moore throughout his career as he also exited the band on the late 80s (and rejoined a decade later).
In 2000, BBC listeners voted the band he formed in the 90s, "Nicky Moore and the Blues Corporation," the Best Live Blues Bands.
One of the most notable moments in Nicky Moore's music career is a near-death accident he was embroiled in. Somewhere during his career, he had performed in a gig after being involved in a deathly car crash.
Nicky Moore stood by his commitmment despite sustaining two broken ribs.
"I think people have known that for years - you can count the amount of gigs I've had to miss on one hand over the last few years. I've tried as hard as I can to make it," he said in an interview at the time.
Nicky Moore was born on Jun. 21, 1947, on Devon, United Kingdom. He is survived by his two sons, Nick Jr. and Timmy Moore.
