Missy Elliott Congratulates Nicki Minaj on VMAs Video Vanguard Award

Yesterday, MTV has announced that rapper Nicki Minaj will be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the upcoming 2022 MTV VMAs in New Jersey this August 28.

Along with a highly-awaited performance, Nicki Minaj is also nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video with Lil Baby for "Do We Have A Problem."

Since the big announcement, Barbz has been relentlessly celebrating the Queen of Rap's new feat, even looking back on her most iconic music videos since her debut album "Pink Friday" in 2010.

During yesterday's buzz on Twitter, fellow rap royalty Missy Elliott surprised Barbz, and Nicki Minaj altogether as she congratulated her on the new accomplishment.

Quoting Pop Crave's announcement that Nicki is the second female rapper to receive the award next to Missy Elliott, the latter replied and tagged the "Super Bass" rapper, congratulating her in a rare occurrence.

Minaj immediately responded to the tweet, thanking the rap veteran for "kicking the door" down first.

Barbz, however, seemed to be giddy with the interaction between the two as they do not have the best friendship online.

Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot Feud Over?

The Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot Feud has long been apparent in the hip-hop industry. With comparisons on who is the better rapper and the real queen of rap, fans of both artists have butted heads repeatedly on social media,

In 2017, Nicki claimed in an interview that female rap was "all but extinct" until she came into the scene in 2010.

Missy did not like her statements and even gave her flowers to Lil Kim, with which she is a close friend and with Minaj has been famously feuding too.

She has also had numerous back and forths with the Barbz throughout the years after taking a snipe on Minaj's in a now-deleted tweet.

With Nicki Minaj and Missy Elliott's Feud over, could a collaboration between the two Queens of Rap come to life?
