American indie rock band Bright Eyes released rerecordings of their previous albums. "A Collection of Of Songs Recorded 1995-1997," "Letting Off The Happiness," and "Fevers and Mirrors" in May.
The three-piece band announced that the next set of "companion" albums would be coming soon, and it will be including new music.
Rereleases of fan favorites
For the new set, Bright Eyes included their 2002 album "Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground" and their 2005 releases "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" and "Digital Ash in a Digital Urn." The three rerecordings are set to be released on Nov. 11 through Dead Oceans.
On Aug. 10, Bright Eyes released the first single from "Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground: A Companion" in the reissued series, "You Will. You? Will. You? Will. You? Will: Companion Version"
They also released "Gold Mine Gutted: Companion Version," the first single from 'Digital Ash In A Digital Urn: A Companion" of the Bright Eyes reissued series.
Bright Eyes, comprised of Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis, and Nate Walcot, announced the rerecording of all of their studio albums in February. They will include a companion EP for each LP.
In addition, they will include the covered version of their songs by artists that they found uplifting during that time, she shared.
The band collaborated with Dave Rawlings, Gillian Welch, Maria Taylor, and Becky Stark.
The previous set of companion releases included "Letting Off The Happiness: A Companion," originally released in 1998, and "Fevers and Mirrors: A Companion," originally released in 2000.
The rereleased albums now boast new cover art. They appear to be more minimalist and classic.
"It's a meaningful way to connect with the past that doesn't feel totally nostalgic and self-indulgent," Oberst shared.
"We are taking these songs and making them interesting to us all over again," he added.
On The Road Again
Bright Eyes announced they would be back to touring in December 2021. The band began touring in the US in March, starting in Minnesota and concluded the tour in Virginia on April 10.
Bright Eyes then announced they would be back on the road again in August. As of this writing, they are about to begin touring in Europe, going through Oslo, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Prague, Berlin, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Cologne, and more.
The band will proceed to the UK, making stops at London, Manchester, Dublin, Dorset, Birmingham, and Glasglow.
