It seems like Spotify will be going head to head with Live Nation and Ticketmaster in the coming feature because they have recently launched a new platform - Spotify Tickets.

So far, this is the streaming giant's newest expansion move - to sell tickets directly to fans rather than just linking them to other third-party ticketing platforms.

Currently, Ticketmaster is the biggest ticketing platform for almost all concerts held in the United States and Greater Europe, monopolizing the industry of live music together with Live Nation.

Recently, Ticketmaster faced a huge backlash from Adele and Bruce Springsteen fans over the implementation of the Dynamic Pricing scheme which saw ticket prices as high as $1000.

Spotify Tickets Still on 'Test' Mode?

Spotify has officially launched a test mode for Spotify Tickets - a new offering of the streaming service to sell live show tickets for artists.

Music Ally reported that the test is happening in the United States.

It only features a handful of artists - Annie DiRusso, Tokimonsta, Osees, Dirty Honey, Limbeck, Crows, and Four Years Strong.

The tickets sold on Spotify Tickets will come from the artists' pre-sale allocations for their upcoming concerts.

"At Spotify, we routinely test new products and ideas to improve our user experience. Some of those end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as important learnings. Tickets.spotify.com is our latest test. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time," Spotify told Billboard.

The move to launch Spotify Tickets came from the June announcement of the platform to further link listeners to live shows of their favorite artists.

If Spotify Tickets proved to be successful, it could be a huge alternative for fans who are struggling to access and purchase tickets from Ticketmaster.

Ticketmaster Monopolizes Live Music Industry Ticketing Program

Over the past weeks, Bruce Springsteen fans have been relentless in calling out Ticketmaster for their problematic Dynamic Pricing program.

Fans are faced with over $5000 priced tickets from various venues because of the scheme.

New York State Senator James Skoufis said to Rolling Stone that Ticketmaster can do these kinds of things without having to worry about competition.

Now, with Spotify Tickets, this could probably mean that Ticketmaster could be challenged and could be wagered to compete with lower prices and much more accessible and added-on features.
