According to NME, a documentary is in the works which will tackle and investigate allegations from former contestants who claimed they experienced "bullying, exploitation and harassment."
The Daily Mail UK reported that there have been numerous stars from the reality singing competition who are willing to participate, including "at least one" member of the judges' panel.
The insider said, "There are currently some former contestants telling their stories for the programme. There are some out there who believe they were mistreated by the X Factor machine."
As of this writing, there are no further details and information behind the reported documentary.
Former Contestants Previously Speak Out About the Show's Mistreatment of Contestants
Previous contestants have spoken out about the issue when the show was canceled by ITV in 2021.
Duo Jedward took to Twitter at the time of the cancelation, writing, "Xfactor has been axed Mission Complete."
Following this, John Grimes of the duo spoke to ITV News, saying he felt that there are many people who have been "exploited" on the show.
Cher Lloyd, a former contestant who auditioned in 2010 that later became an international pop star, also aired similar thoughts in an interview with The Guardian, saying the program created a character then wanted her to be "a fully pleged, respectful artist."
The singer also noted that she had to do damage control after her experience on the show up until she's 26 years old.
"Years later, I do have some anger towards people for doing that to me," she added.
Another devastating experience was exposed by Katie Waissel, claiming that she was sexually assaulted by one of the team on the show.
The unnamed man's identity was not revealed for legal reasons, but the singer alleged that the incident happened in a luxury hotel.
After the claims made rounds online, a representative for "The X Factor" issued a statement, saying the contestants' duty of care is their priority and they take welfare very seriously.
