Four months since his infamous arrest, Gunna is still sitting behind bars because of a massive RICO indictment that jailed him and Young Thug and other YSL associates until their trial in January 2023.

Now, Gunna has reached another milestone in his career despite being in jail - his 2022 album, "DS4EVER," reached a new feat, which he happily celebrated still.

Gunna in Jail Update

Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, more commonly known as Gunna, is still in jail after surrendering himself to the police last May after conspiring to commit Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) act and multiple felony charges in Atlanta, Georgia.

Earlier this week, Gunna shared to his 4.4 million followers a celebratory post on his Instagram account.

"thankful to have the highest selling hip hop album this year . Miss you all ; love you and I'll be home soon - Gunna," he captioned.

Gunna's third album, "DS4EVER" was certified Platinum by the Recording Institute Association of America for selling 1,000,000 units.

In his caption, Gunna remains hopeful that he would be home soon.

The "Pushin P" rapper was denied bond release twice after a judge revealed that since he holds a "commanding position" in the alleged gang that Young Thug formed in 2012, he may cause witness tampering and intimidation.

Young Thug was also denied for the same reason. Because of this, the two along with their other associates shall remain behind bars until their scheduled trial in January 2023.

Wunna and Young Thug's lawyers were confident that both rappers will not be convicted on the many charges that were filed against them.

Meanwhile, fans of Gunna, who have been calling for his release, were hopeful that the recent Platinum feat, would boost the rapper's morale in jail.

Gunna 'DS4EVER' Charts, Commercial Success

Gunna started the year strong as he opened 2022 with "DS4EVER," beating likely winner The Weeknd's "Dawn FM" in the tight race at the Billboard 200 charts.

Debuting 150,000 album-equivalent units, Gunna beat Abel by only 2,300 units. "DS4EVER" marks the rapper's second consecutive No. 1 album.

After peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, "DS4EVER" is now at No. 41, dipping four spots below No. 36 last week.

Meanwhile, Rolling Stone gave the album 3/5 stars, noting that: "Gunna has a flashy and intoxicating vocal style, and that alone [makes] DS4 a worthy escapade. But he can't transcend the clichés that define his era"
